Fall Transitional pieces

Fall Transitional pieces

These are the items I am thinking on this fall. 1. An ACNE sweater which thankfully they have cleverly decided to repeat this season, 2. HM pool slides which cannot be found ANYWHERE, however I been lucky enough to have found a pair on eBay. 3. COS front pleat trousers, again, these were an instant purchase, you can't get me out of them. 4. The Saint Laurent Monogramme cross body bag, I missed out on the last croc one, hopefully, I will get this current design or the plain leather with gold finish. 5. Maria Black 'Signet' ring, just simple and elegant 6. In dreams would I have a Leica camera 7. Byredo Cotton Poplin candle for my new space 8. Larsson and Jennings watch- this had better happen soon.

Aubaine.

Photos by me

I met up with a good friend yesterday so we decided to have some lunch. We were meandering around the Marylebone area and decided to have lunch at Aubaine. Aubaine is a causal place with a delicate Parisian twist. The flavours are strong but ever so slight, perfect for some inconsequential but  indulgent delights in the afternoon. Plenty of light to which made for some serious Instagram fun.

New In.

photo: by me

There is no story as to how I managed to snag one of the most coveted bags of the moment. introducing my new Mansur Gavriel bucket bag in Black/Flamma. This one is currently priced at £395 with the red lining and the limited edition one is for £525 with the gold lining. This size is right for me because I needed a substantially sized bag for the moment and need a bigger one still,  (currently looking at the Céline horizontal cabas) since my handbag-buying choices of late have been mainly style over substance and by substance I mean wayyy too small. In my opinion, this bag is a thing of beauty it's subtle enough, yet cool enough. To think I was going to get the Louis Vuitton Petit Noé! (Well, I still might.) My fav feature happens to be the red lining known as 'Flamma'. Reminds me of Louboutin's red sole. All I can say is that I asked the universe and the universe delivered. You can still buy yours at Net-a-porter but hurry, not only has the prices gone up, they are selling out fast!

The Quest For The White Background...

You know when you see bloggers and instagrammers (the same folk nowadays) take a perfect picture of an object and somehow the image is pristine? They all have something in common, the photo-studio white background. I always thought they existed only in wall-to-wall sizes but clearly there must be a simpler way to capture a solitary cup of coffee without the breadcrumbs from your wooden kitchen table showing up in the shot. Or using your wrinkled sheets as a backdrop. Doesn't help either. Scowl. So how can I effect that beautiful white background which will reflect the light everywhere and gives my images that minimalist beauty?

I have been searching on Amazon and eBay and found there are portable photo studios for capturing small objects, which at first seems great but what if I want to show you my new bag or my porridge oats?? How will that help? I will be loving soon, to where there is more natural light and space so maybe that will help. In the mean time, if anyone can help, what do you suggest?

Want It. Need It.

I would love to get the Sac du Jour Tote by Saint Laurent as my main bag for the year. It would be really useful for me personally. I would be able to squeeze my laptop into it and throw in the rest of my junk. Literally my Céline Trapeze is full of junk. Like loads of junk. Its a garbage disposal unit of hand sanitiser and various lip balms- man I seriously need to get a pouch or something...but really this would be handy and since I have fallen hard for everything in black again well...

Mansur Gavriel.

OK. Wait. Halt! I know you've seen this bag around the block, namely on the who's who of the blogger world such as Andy,  but it was not until I stumbled across the official Instagram account of the brand in question, that following them cemented the fact that this bag HAS to be my NEXT acquisition. Currently sold out on Net-a-porter, Mansur Gavriels' bucket bag has left us, or rather me slightly restless. Itchy even. Currently only avail on line and no where to be found in the UK (Why?) This bag is leaving all kinds of marks on my pathetic weak consumer-ridden mind. I actually adore the fact that they are playing hard to get with supply- yes we've sussed out this marketing trick, clever us- but it's not funny when you actually need to discover, feel and hold this baby in your arms. If you are a handbag fiend then I guess you understand my maternal brooding over this red-lined beauty. Gimme, gimme, gimme! £395 at net-a-porter, it beats paying £1950 for a Céline right now.

American Hustle.

Dallas eat your shoulder-padded heart out

This multi-awarding winning drama is set in the 70s in New Jersey about two con artists who get caught but come up with the biggest con of their lives to get themselves out. It's about reinvention, second chances, the social limitations we face,  and shitty things that happen as a result and sometimes hurting good people.

Honey, does my hair look big enough to you?
Turn around lemme see.
I may be a mouthy mother, but damn, I'm fine!

So we're NOT in St. Barts?
So far, American Hustle (Starring Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence) has been slaying the awards circuit including a multiple of nominations for the Oscars. There is something about the way they dressed in the 70s, that if you weren't a star, the furs, the low necklines, the cravats, the glitter, the flares, the lamé and the hoop ear-rings could be borderline trashy, but as David O' Russell (the director) says, there was something innocent about that era, even when they made the wrong choices it was coming from the heart. I think that just about sums it up for the wardrobe choices of the men. By any means necessary; Don't. Look. Hot. And as much as I do love the Gucci/Dallas heyday outfits,  Jennifer's fur coat and Amy's crochet bikini won't be venturing into my closet any time soon. Well, maybe Jennifer's hoop earrings. OK OK everything!! After all I'm a sucker for all things 70s, I guess that makes me rather innocent too then.

Masterful.

Get Me Bodied.

SAY WHAT? REBOOT.

" Hmmm my assistant gave me this letter. It says, I am going to kill you. Kill you until you die. Great."
Giovana: Make sure you give me back my Zanottis before you go, you have had them for ages..."

" I promise, I have only had 1 drink..."

"Mwah!"

It's hard being a glamour puss AND a house wife at the same time

"I really hope he brings me back wine pastilles...."

" What do you mean it looked better on the hanger?? Your fired."
